Is drinking a gallon of water a day good for you?
A gallon (3.8 L) is appropriate for some people โ larger bodies, heavy training, hot climates โ and unnecessary for others. For a 140-lb office worker, a gallon is well beyond need; the surplus is simply excreted, and forcing it chronically has no proven benefit. Does drinking water help with weight loss?
Modestly, through two honest mechanisms: water before meals increases fullness and can reduce how much you eat, and replacing sugary drinks with water removes hundreds of liquid calories. Do I need electrolyte drinks?
